The
Cuban-American power forward Brook Lopez
again showed his great form to contribute 22 points that helped the Nets to
Brooklyn to win at home (83-91) at Minnesota Timberwolves.
Lopez, who has All-Star numbers and
hopes to be selected among the Eastern
Conference reserves to be in Houston on Feb. 17, scored 10 of 16 field
goals and contributed seven rebounds.
The
shooting guard Joe Johnson, the hero
of the Nets on Monday in the match
against the New York Knicks, and point guard Deron Williams scored 18 points each, while the second also eight
assists, which left him in team leader that facet of the game.
The
reserve guard C.J. Watson emerged as
the sixth man for the Nets to contribute 14 points and complete the list of
four players on the team from Brooklyn who had two-digit numbers.
The win
was the third straight for the Nets (26-16),
which under the leadership of interim coach P.J.Carlesimo have a winning record of 12-2 and 9-1 since he has
been maintained lineup Lopez, Williams, Johnson, Gerald Wallace and Reggie
Evans.
The
triumph of the Nets, who remain a half-game of the Knicks (25-14) in the
fight for the lead in the Atlantic Division, was the first who got in the last
nine visits they made to the Target Center in Minneapolis.
The
Russian forward Andrei Kirilenko was
the leader of the decimated Timberwolves to contribute 15 points, six rebounds
and four assists, but did not prevent the team's seventh loss in eight games
they have played.
The
reserve power forward Dante Cunningham
had 14 points, guard Luke Ridnour
hit the top 13 and another man who came off the bench, Chris Johnson reached the
12 points and six rebounds.
But the
Timberwolves (17-22) as a team
captured 37 rebounds for the Nets 45.
The
absences of tall men, power forward Kevin Love and Montenegrin Center Nikola
Pekovic, both casualties due to injury, was felt again in the indoor play for
the Timberwolves, who neither had the base rookie Russian Alexey Shved, who suffered a sprained left ankle.
The
baseman Jose Juan Barea played 24 minutes as a reserve for the Timberwolves and
was the leader in the direction of the game by providing 11 points (5-11, 1-4,
0-0), eight assists, four rebounds and recovered a ball.
The
Spanish guard Ricky Rubio continued
to head, but still can’t be winning factor to make five points in the 24
minutes he played.
Rubio
scored May 2 field goals, missed a triple, six assists, and team-leader,
recovered three fumbles, but lost four.
The
player Masnou want to spend more time in the field, but interim coach Terry Porter, who holds the post of
Rick Adelman, who is absent due to health of his wife, made no concessions to
Rubio of going over the 24 minutes, something I did not like.
"I
hate that I feel, but he did what he thinks is best for the team," Rubio
said at the conclusion of the match. "I think it's time I should know what
happens and we talk."
